Geriatric1927: A New Fashion on YouTube

There has been a lot of buzz about the older man (geriatric1927) on You tube who has been posting photos and images of his life, as well as talking about the things he has done and places he has been. Why is it so surprising that young people would want to hear about the lives of older people? At the tender age of 14 my stepfather sat with me in a quiet room, and over 4 hours told me about the D-Day landing he was part of. He would never talk to my Mother about it, and she suggested I ask him to tell me.

That discussion, and many that occurred afterward, still stand as some of the most electrifying moments of my youthful life- I was sitting next to a part of history. I hope this starts a trend where older people will log onto YouTube and tell their stories. There are people passing you everyday who bare witness to our histories, fresh in their minds, and believe no one cares. Who knows, this may re-write a huge account of institutional history.
